Hi, it's lovely to see you. My name is Nicola and I am a pluralistic counsellor and hypnotherapist, with a love for nature, yoga and travel.
I am registered with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society, and the National Hypnotherapy Society.
I started my career as a dental nurse, and what I enjoyed most about this work was meeting and talking to different people and listening to their stories. It also sparked a passion for supporting people with their health and wellbeing.
I started training to be a hypnotherapist, and then a counsellor, while also working in various health and wellbeing support roles. I love helping people to navigate challenges and changes in their lives and to make sense of their thoughts, emotions and bodily sensations.
I have experience in supporting people through life changes including career change. I have supported people to manage work alongside health conditions and busy and often demanding lives. I have had training and experience in supporting people with their substance/alcohol use and other behaviours that might be considered addictive or compulsive.
I welcome everyone in my practice- all identities, genders and sexualities. I have experience in working with neurodivergent people and those with intersecting identities.
I work in a pluralistic way, which means I won't try to fit you in a box, and we will work together to create the therapy plan that is right for you.
I believe strengthening the mind body connection is an essential part of healing, and so I often incorporate techniques that invite this connection into my work. These could include breathwork, mindfulness or gentle movement.
I take a trauma-informed and non-pathologising approach. This means that I believe that the coping strategies you have developed to manage in this world have understandable origins, often helping you to deal with difficult experiences.
I feel it is important to share knowledge of how the body, nervous system and brain respond to difficult and challenging circumstances and experiences.
Your struggles are real, but they are not defective.
